Week 4 Home ~ Dec. 29 - Jan 2

 Sunday, December 29

Went to Kolby Dyches farewell, then dropped off my chopped Italian salad, then went home for Sunday nap. Cory went up to Parker's to do some RC car's and Kaylee & Aaron went to Cope's to see Emmalee's baby. I stayed home and made dinner to take to Shar and Riley's. As I was leaving there was a beautiful sunset.


I made Hawaiian Haystacks and rolls for dinner.  Shar's family was a little apprehensive about trying something new, but 5 out of the 6 of them loved it! Shar and Paisley made a delicious chocolate peanut butter cake for dessert.  





Kona was loving cuddling with Paisley!


Then it was game time!

We played Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza

There was also cuddle/play time

Brookie made this play place for the dogs and her animals! Darling!!




Cory gave Riley an emergency kit and they had fun going through all the things in it!


Monday, December 30

Had a massage this morning, man I miss them!  I feel so good after. My back has been bothering me and my masseuse could tell...she told me my back in angry!

We played Clue's & Hues...the point of the game is you pick a card with a color square and you give a clue and everyone else places their piece on what they think the square is.  My mom gave a clue and you can see where we all put our pieces.  Then she placed the score taker down, and we couldn't stop laughing at how far off her clue was.




Tuesday, December 31 2024

We spent the day running errands and relaxing. Cory worked on the car. We went to Matt and Candi's for a little bit. It was so nice to catch up with everyone. Cory really enjoyed seeing his cousins!  They had a potato bar, salads, veggies & snacks.



Then we went to Mat & Yolanda's to play games and ring in the New Year! I love that they have made so many nice friends in American Fork and they let us tag along! Plus I love that they are truly happy!


Wednesday, January 1

We woke up and went to our annual New Year Breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Cory stayed home and worked on the car. He got it finished and we took it for a test drive! It is so nice!!





I had Kaylee paint my nails, one last time, a fun Summer color!


That night, we had a movie night and watched Juror Number 2...SO GOOD but I hated the ending!




Thursday, January 2

My mind can't handle the packing up part, so I went and got my hair done, then went and got our passports from Westland and Cory packed up. We put air tags in every bag and took pictures just in case. Kaylee painted my toenails and the puppies could tell change was happening so they hung close to Aaron!

 We had a long, holiday weekend so we went to Mikembo with Moren & Sisca, Darius & Leonie, Leslie, Trent, Scotty & Kayla and kids! It was my first time being there and I loved it!  I was a little nervous when I heard we would be camping in tents, but it wasn't that bad. The tents were "nice" and we just sprayed for insects 2-3 times a day. There was a pavilion where we cooked, visited, and ate. There was a pavilion closer to the river that had couches and a table. People napped there, we played games there and just relaxed!  It was very green, because of the rainy season. It was a very beautiful place!  Simi playing around in the eating pavilion.  Caught Cory taking a nap! You can see the tents in the background. Scotty and Trent went and found some wild mushrooms and cooked them up! I was excited to taste them, I love mushrooms!  These particular ones were not my favorite...they had a flavor I didn't like.    It was very hot and humid...

 Thursday, January 30, Morne had me work from home. He didn't want us leaving the compound. I spent the morning doing my normal work and then at 2:45 in the afternoon, Sisca came knocking on my door telling me there was an emergency meeting called at 3:00 and Morne wanted all of us on the phone for it.  We met in Leonie's house and called in.  Morne started out by telling us that the M23 Rwandan rebels, who had already taken over Goma in the North, had started moving south and were planning on taking over Bukavu.  They announced their intentions to continue moving south taking over Mbuji-Mayi, Kananga, Lubumbashi, and then make their was to Kinshasa. The US Embassy had already been attacked and set fire to.  There was discussion about what we should do and the home office was involved too.  It was decided that all the women and children should leave. Week 1 at Home ~ July 1 - 7

  Monday, July 1 I was able to be in town for this Westland Breakfast!  It was so fun to get together with all the women of Westland and laugh, visit and eat good food! One of my favorite things about Monday's in the summer is Springville City's Farmers Market!  We love to go walk around and look at all the fun booths then get some yummy food from the food trucks and share!  This time we got alfredo pasta, calzone, corn dogs, California roll sushi, BBQ brisket with garlic mashed potatoes.  Our favorite was the corn dogs and least favorite was the calzone.  I tried the sushi and it wasn't that bad...but there was no raw fish so apparently it's not real sushi! Tuesday, July 2 We got up at 5:30 so we could go fishing up at Strawberry.  Kim and Janet met us up there.  I dressed for warm weather and it was so cold that morning.  I was bundled up in blankets and sweatshirts.  It warmed up as the morning went on.  It was so nice to be out ...
