Friends-Giving 2024

We hosted our 2 Friends-Giving on Saturday, November 16!  We did it early, because Darius, Sisca & Morne will be leaving on the 28th to go back to South Africa for Darius and Leonie's wedding. (Leonie left 3 week ago!)

Sisca was able to find brown butcher paper and it was super easy to decorate the tables! We had 2 turkeys this year; one was deep fried and one was cooked in the oven. There was Jolof (rice dish from Ghana), chicken shawarma & hummus (Lebanon), mashed potatoes & gravy, beef stroganoff (South Africa), rolls, macaroni and cheese, cooked carrots, and mandazi's (Congo). I also made a cheeseball shaped like a pumpkin...I was supposed to roll it in crushed orange crackers, but they don't have those here so I tried to use orange food coloring...that didn't work either!  I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked, but I'm grateful for what I did get!

Sisca ordered props off Shein. She has to ship it to Zambia and then it is shipped over the border. The cost is more than the items!

At each person's place setting, they had a place to write what they were thankful for!

Morne wrote Trump. What most people don't realize, by him being elected, the South African Ran was affected. Morne and Sisca basically got a 12% raise over night because they are paid in US Dollars!
