Week 4 at Home ~ July 22 - 28

 Tuesday, July 23

Kaylee and Aaron didn't have to work today. They spent the morning, with Cory, out working on their house.  I worked on OSHA. We had fuel in the boat we needed to burn up so we decided to go out on the lake. Mat, Yolanda and Emery met us there.  While we were out there, 3 black hawk helicopters flew over us.  It was awesome. Cory even did some surfing and knee boarding.  The sunset was beautiful, and it was the perfect end to the evening. ( We MAY have a cup problem!)















 




 



Wednesday, July 24

We had a pretty chill day today.  I went to Sip in to get drinks for all of us.  I started out going to the one closest to us, but the line was so long I decided to drive down to the original one on 3rd south.  I went in and the girl who was helping me asked if I was Ashley's mom.  My heart fluttered as I told her yes.  She then told me she was Gabbi and played tennis with Ashley.  She told me she had a picture come across her memories and Ashley was in it and she just remembered all the fun they had playing tennis with Craig.  I had her sent me the picture and teared up with memories.




 That evening, we went to Matt and Ambers for dinner on their new covered patio...it is to die for!  Absolutely beautiful!  Matt thought of everything.  Sadly, I didn't take any pictures.


Thursday, July 25

Today Cory and I went with Shar and Camden to do baptisms for the dead.  It has been years since Cory and I have done baptisms.  It was a beautiful evening. Cory had just gotten back from the dentist and his mouth was numb.  As he was talking, he kind of had a slur and we were giggling about that!


Friday, July 26

Today, I went with my parents and Katie to Trader Joes.  As we pulled off the freeway, my dad suggested lunch so we stopped at Leatherby's for some sandwiches and ice cream. The ice cream was huge...all 4 of us shared it! 






That evening we went to Desert Star with Mat & Yolanda. We went to dinner before at a place called The Garage, a restaurant in Draper that is decorated with cars and tools...it looks like you are eating in a garage! Again, I didn't get any pictures so I am taking them from my Be Real!





Saturday July 27

We went to Kaylee's house and put in blinds and a shelf above the washer and dryer!



Sunday, July 28

Today, Emery got set apart as a missionary.  Cory wasn't feeling well and Kaylee and Aaron had temple recommend interviews so I went over by myself.  It was beautiful.  She had two white bows in her hair and afterwards, she wanted everyone to wear one in a picture!




 

   



We went up to Monks to have a hot dog roast with my family.  It was a beautiful evening and they hot dogs were yummy!

 We had a long, holiday weekend so we went to Mikembo with Moren & Sisca, Darius & Leonie, Leslie, Trent, Scotty & Kayla and kids! It was my first time being there and I loved it!  I was a little nervous when I heard we would be camping in tents, but it wasn't that bad. The tents were "nice" and we just sprayed for insects 2-3 times a day. There was a pavilion where we cooked, visited, and ate. There was a pavilion closer to the river that had couches and a table. People napped there, we played games there and just relaxed!  It was very green, because of the rainy season. It was a very beautiful place!  Simi playing around in the eating pavilion.  Caught Cory taking a nap! You can see the tents in the background. Scotty and Trent went and found some wild mushrooms and cooked them up! I was excited to taste them, I love mushrooms!  These particular ones were not my favorite...they had a flavor I didn't like.    It was very hot and humid...

 Thursday, January 30, Morne had me work from home. He didn't want us leaving the compound. I spent the morning doing my normal work and then at 2:45 in the afternoon, Sisca came knocking on my door telling me there was an emergency meeting called at 3:00 and Morne wanted all of us on the phone for it.  We met in Leonie's house and called in.  Morne started out by telling us that the M23 Rwandan rebels, who had already taken over Goma in the North, had started moving south and were planning on taking over Bukavu.  They announced their intentions to continue moving south taking over Mbuji-Mayi, Kananga, Lubumbashi, and then make their was to Kinshasa. The US Embassy had already been attacked and set fire to.  There was discussion about what we should do and the home office was involved too.  It was decided that all the women and children should leave. We didn't know for how long, but because the airport is also the military base, they wanted us to leave whil...

Week 1 at Home ~ July 1 - 7

  Monday, July 1 I was able to be in town for this Westland Breakfast!  It was so fun to get together with all the women of Westland and laugh, visit and eat good food! One of my favorite things about Monday's in the summer is Springville City's Farmers Market!  We love to go walk around and look at all the fun booths then get some yummy food from the food trucks and share!  This time we got alfredo pasta, calzone, corn dogs, California roll sushi, BBQ brisket with garlic mashed potatoes.  Our favorite was the corn dogs and least favorite was the calzone.  I tried the sushi and it wasn't that bad...but there was no raw fish so apparently it's not real sushi! Tuesday, July 2 We got up at 5:30 so we could go fishing up at Strawberry.  Kim and Janet met us up there.  I dressed for warm weather and it was so cold that morning.  I was bundled up in blankets and sweatshirts.  It warmed up as the morning went on.  It was so nice to be out ...
