We spent all day on Monday cleaning the boat and trying to get everything ready for Lake Powell. Cory had to work on the engine and at the end of the day, it still wasn't resolved. We got cleaned up and went to dinner with Jeff and Chari...always fun catching up with them when we are here.
Tuesday, July 16
Cory woke up early and knew what needed to do to fix the problem and it was fixed before I woke up! He was in his happy place fixing things and getting the truck and boat ready. Kaylee had to work today so we didn't leave until 5:00. Shar and Riley were already down at the house, eagerly awaiting the arrival of us and mainly the puppies!

Every night, when I would take the puppies outside to go potty, there would be this frog out there, just chillin!

Kaylee turned 22 today! We started out the morning with a birthday breakfast sandwich topped with a bugle candle and easy cheese flame!

On our way out to find the perfect spot for the day we passed this rock area sticking out in the middle of the lake so we pulled up on it and had fun swimming.
We got the puppies purple, mermaid life jackets to help them in the water. Moqui, not a huge fan, Kona got use to it!
We ended up finding a spot in a little bay and it was nice because the beach was clean, not a lot of "traffic" so the kids could swim and paddle board and there wasn't anyone around.
We spent the afternoon, surfing, knee boarding and tubing. Brookie wanted to go tubing with the puppies, so of courses I made it happen!
Kaylee got to choose where we went for dinner and she chose the cutes little place called The Barnyard. They have a mini golf course, tons of out door games like, corn hole, connect four, balls and blocks, tether ball and a playground. The kids were entertained while we were waiting for our food. The food was delicious! I got the shrimp taco, Cory got a corn dog, Kaylee got the malibu chicken and Aaron got a hamburger.
Then it was back to the house, showers and cuddle time with puppies before bed!

Today was Trevin's birthday!!! What better place to celebrate that Lake Powell! We didn't find a beach today, we decided to just drive around, explore and stop when we wanted. After we launch, we have to wait for Riley and Shar to come back down. It was hot, but the kids couldn't jump in the water so they just sat on the back and dangled their feet in the water! We went over to the docks to try and see the sunken houseboat they were trying lift out of the water. We couldn't see it.
Was able to get this screen shot from Facebook
Then we went up to Lone Rock and swam around it for a bit. It's crazy to think that just 2 years ago, Cory walked around Lone Rock because the water was so low! We did wake boarding and knee boarding today and threw in some cliff jumping! Everyone was so good to help out with the puppies.
Trevyn got to choose where we ate dinner for his birthday. He wanted orange chicken...problem is, there is no Chinese restaurant in Page. We went to a Japanese place and looked at the menu...everyone took a hard pass on that one. We looked up another place but it was more Hawaiian food. He decided on Joes BBQ and it was yummy! Then we went back to the house and had ice cream cake to celebrate Trevyn!

Today, we stayed in Wahweap Bay and set up camp on a fantastic spot. It ended up being right where the iconic Lake Powell Beach picture is. When the lake is full, this beach is prime. With the water being so low, Cory had to hike over to it and he got about halfway up before he turned around because the sand was burning his feet. I stole the first picture from the internet and the next two are Cory's. One looking up the hill and the other looking back down toward the lake.

We set up our shade tents on a rock that was just barely under water. It was perfect, nice and cool. We hung out in the cove, swam, paddle boarded and of course snacked. Then the kids wanted to go knee boarding, tubing and cliff jumping. We loaded in the boat and went out. we eventually found a fun cliff for the kids to jump off. There was a little girl there that her dad had been trying for almost an hour to get her to jump off. We all tried as well. She ended up not doing it. We were finishing up, and we could see there was a storm coming. Storms at Lake Powell come in fast and can be intense. We hadn't tied down the shade tents, and I told Cory we need to get back and make sure everything is good. Just as we pulled up to our spot, the wind hit us and we ended up loosing one shade tent to Lake Powell. We quickly packed everything up and headed in.
Right above the orange shade tent you can see the sand hill in the distance.
We got loaded up, went back to the house and had a chill evening. We barbequed some hamburgers, played spike ball, and did smores around the fire. Then the kids went inside and watched a movie and the adults sat around and visited.
Moqui and I keeping an eye on everyone!
Camden was able to catch the frog!!

Time to go home! We made a stop at the dam and they were releasing water out of the gates! So cool. Then we drove to Kanab and got burgers from The Junction and ate at the city park. On our way home we stopped at the Belly of the Dragon and let the kids climb through it. We hit a rain storm on the way home which was refreshing! I love the contrast between the gray sky and the yellow grass!
When we got home, it was Mapleton City Day's. We made some dinner, played games on the back deck and watched the fireworks. There was a full moon and I was able to get some cool shoots of it rising with the fireworks! Moqui was terrified of the fireworks and buried her head in Cory's arm. We had to give Buddy calming chews, he also hates the fireworks. Kona was in our bedroom buried under pillows!
Sunday, July 21
Today was Emery's farewell. We were able to go listen to her speak, she did a fantastic job! She is so ready to go and serve the people of Seattle. We went back to the house where Yolanda had made a pasta bar.
