Week 1 at Home ~ July 1 - 7

 Monday, July 1

I was able to be in town for this Westland Breakfast!  It was so fun to get together with all the women of Westland and laugh, visit and eat good food!

One of my favorite things about Monday's in the summer is Springville City's Farmers Market!  We love to go walk around and look at all the fun booths then get some yummy food from the food trucks and share!  This time we got alfredo pasta, calzone, corn dogs, California roll sushi, BBQ brisket with garlic mashed potatoes.  Our favorite was the corn dogs and least favorite was the calzone.  I tried the sushi and it wasn't that bad...but there was no raw fish so apparently it's not real sushi!

Tuesday, July 2

We got up at 5:30 so we could go fishing up at Strawberry.  Kim and Janet met us up there.  I dressed for warm weather and it was so cold that morning.  I was bundled up in blankets and sweatshirts.  It warmed up as the morning went on.  It was so nice to be out on the lake, just relaxing.  I don't fish, but I do boat!!

Wednesday, July 3

Mom, dad and I spent the morning shopping for our St. George trip. Dad loves a good Sams/Costco trip!

Kona and I spent the afternoon decorating Ashley's grave for the 4th of July. The cemetery looks bare without the shepherd's hooks that were banned.

Thursday, July 4

We planned a trip to St. George, even though it was going to be HOT!  We left around 8:30 and drove to Kolob Canyon.  I have driven by it a hundred times but have never stopped there.  As we were getting off the exit we noticed a fire on the off ramp.  It was hot, dry and windy and it was spreading quickly.  The rangers said we were still ok to head up the canyon so we drove to the end.  It was beautiful.  Sadly, no dogs were allowed on any of the trails, so we didn't hike. (It was too hot anyway!)  We found a picnic table, in the shade, and enjoyed a lunch of sandwiches, veggies and chips. When we came back down, there were fire trucks working on putting out the fire.  My mom and dad pulled up next to us in the parking lot and Kaylee said, "you should ask the firemen how the fire started." My mom thought she said, "you should ask for a ride on their Kawasaki!" We laughed for awhile about that one.  I asked the firemen and they said a truck, traveling north on I-15, started to overheat and pulled off on the exit.  IT started on fire and the wind blew the flames to the dry grass.

Moqui rode with my parents and Katie from here to St. George!

We got a condo at Bloomington Golf Course. It is so nice to be able to spread out. We had a view of the course from our windows and it was a short walk to the pool.

We went to George's Corner for dinner that night.  I got the shrimp taco, it was good.  In true Swenson fashion, some of us shared our food.  Katie got the Tavern chopped salad and mom got the tostada salad.

When we got home, we played Five Crowns, I was exhausted and fell asleep during it! Katie and I shared a room that had bunk bed.  Of course the puppies slept with me.

Friday, July 5

We woke up and went to Bear Paw for our breakfast!  We love that place!  Then we went back to the condo.  Kaylee, Aaron and Katie went to Pink Box to get donuts.  That place looks amazing! So many choices.  My dad told us to only get 4 donuts so he wouldn't eat them all.  We told him he didn't have to eat them and we got a dozen, then Katie had then throw in a donut hole for dad!  It was yummy tasting all the different flavors.

We spent the afternoon at the pool, cooling off.  My parents went to the new Redcliff Temple to do a session.

We went to Hot Shot's that night to play some golf and eat dinner.  We just ordered a bunch of appetizers and a pizza.  They had fans and mist to try and beat the heat but it was still warm!

Katie brought her bracelet making stuff and Aaron got his craft on!

Saturday, July 6

We went and played pickle ball this morning.  Mom walked to puppies over and then they watched us!  I love playing pickleball, even though I'm not the best!

We went back and got dad and went to the farmers markets at Tuacahn & down town.  We then went back to the pool to cool down.  Ben and Mat joined us today.  For dinner, we went to Rib and Chop, then to Nielsen's custards.  Mat went back to the house and the rest of us went to Tuacahn to see Anastasia.

Sunday, July 7

We got up and headed home.  On the way, we stopped and hiked Kanarra Falls.
It started out on a dirt road to a water tank, but quickly turned into forest and then slot canyon.  The last part, you hike through the stream.  The air was hot, but the water was cold. Eventually my feet went numb. Once you get to the first waterfall, they have stairs built to get you above it.  There are two more waterfalls above it but you have to climb some rocks to get there.  My parents stayed behind.

We left the dogs with Kaylee's friend in Cedar City. When we picked them up, they wouldn't leave my lap!
