Flying Back to DRC

Here we go again!  Our journey back is always a long one!

We started out at the Salt Lake Airport, where our flight left at 3:30 PM.  We had a 10 hour and 15 minute flight to Paris. Every time we f back we have TONS of stuff that everyone wants us to bring back.  This time we checked 5 bags.  If it had just been our stuff it would have been 1 bag! I love it thought, I feel like Santa Clause when I get there.  Everyone just orders their stuff and has it delivered to our house.

The menu for this flight! For dinner I had the Three Cheese Manicotti and Cory had the Whopper we bought in the airport...they don't have a kids menu on the plane!  I actually quite enjoy the food on the flights. For breakfast I had the Three Cheese Quiche and Cory had the Baked French Toast.

We landed at the airport in Paris and it was a cool 63 degrees.  We got off on the tarmac and then road a bus to the terminal.  Here we had a 12 hour layover. We found these lounge chairs next to this huge cat sculpture so we took a nap here. (Cory's legs have scabs on them from bug bites and a burn from his motorcycle.) Then we got up and walked around and looked at the shops, ate some lunch, then repeated.  Finally at 9:30 we left for Johannesburg.

Our meal on Air France was a pickeld vegetable salad, shrimp with basil cream and rice with pine nuts, a roll, crackers, and a little cake.  Cory had crackers, my roll, and a coke zero!

After our 10 and a half hour flight to Joburg, we got off and rushed through customs and security to make our flight to Lubumbashi.  We had an hour and a half layover and we made it to our gate with 10 minutes to rest. Here you have to squeeze onto a bus and it takes you out to the plane on the tarmac.  From here we had a 2 and a half hour flight to Lubumbashi.

Once we got there, we found out only one of our bags made it to Lubumbashi.  The plane was too heavy so the rest would come on Monday.  Dona went back to the airport of Monday and only 3 showed up.  They said the last one would be there Tuesday.  It didn't come on the flight.  I called and found out the last bag was in route from Paris to Joburg that day (Tuesday) so it wouldn't be here until Wednesday! It made it and everyone got their stuff!

Us at the beginning of our journey!

Us 33 hours later...at the end...almost. We still had a 2 and a half hour flight to go!
