A Little Tour Around Town

Friday, I went with Amelia to run some errands. I wanted to go to the fabric store and grab a few more bolts of fabric and ended up getting tablecloth fabric as well!  I went to a new place in town I had never been before and it was eye opening.  We are blessed to live in the "nice" area of town.

Most of the houses here do not have running water.  They will carry these yellow jugs to a neighborhood well and fill the up and then take them home.

The picture on the left is of school kids going to fill up the water to take back to the school.

There had been a big rain storm the night before and the roads were covered with mud puddles!

Here are some of the homes. They are made of this red brick that is not water proof and crumbles.  Once you buy the property down here you have to start building immediately or the government will come and take over the property.  You will find houses all over that have been started but never completed because they ran out of money.

Just a couple of shots of our journey into downtown.  I can't believe how many people they fit into the yellow vans.  Amelia's sister in law said the people in the truck are going to a funeral. I don't know how she knew that but she did!

We finally made it to the fabric store!  I love it!  And I washed a piece of the fabric for the first time and it turns out so soft!

Amelia bought some fabric and is having dresses made for her and her girls. We stopped at this little tailor shop that her sister in law uses.  Notice the sewing machines! They are so talented here! I bought some fabric and I'm going to have a dress coat/jacket made from it!  I'm so excited!
