Public Notices
I joined a What's App group here called the Ladies of Lubumbashi. It is kind of like a community facebook page. The other day I got a couple of interesting notices. The first one was the fuel station's workers were going to go on strike so we should top off our fuel tank. We had just filled ours up that morning and 1 tank lasts us about three and a half weeks!
The second one was on Saturday, the day Cory and I run our errands. We were planning on going to the grocery store that afternoon and woke up to this message...
It is an election year here and the election is in December. The closer it gets to December the more we will have to stay in. They want us out of here early December, which we were planning on anyway!
One thing you don't mess with here is the police. Cory and I were talking about this, the group of people you should make you feel safe, are the ones you are most afraid of. They will stop you for no reason and then demand money. We both were worried that even though the notice said in the evening, they would start it earlier so we went in the morning. We also had to stop at the temple site and the yard to pick up a pump and tools that Cory needed to fix. We made it home and didn't leave the rest of the day!
