Fighting the African Chicken
Amelia and the kids made me lunch last week! The kids were so excited to make me there special chicken. They went to the store to buy a whole chicken and when they got home, Serge, (her driver and brother in law) asked her why did she buy an African Chicken. She didn't know what the difference was and Serge said, "You will be fighting the African Chicken for lunch." We soon found out what that meant. African chickens are VERY tough and there isn't a lot of meat on them. The flavors the kids added (Garlic, butter, onion) was delicious but is was so hard to get any meat off. And throw in the fact there was still little bits of feathers/hairy things on it and it was tough to eat. They also made potato salad, rice and beignets. I hadn't been to the store so all I had to bring was carrots and dip. Ella and Jason LOVED the dip and carrots. We want to try the meal again, but with regular chicken, not African chicken!
