Stake Conference

Sunday, September 3, we had stake conference.  We were able to go to an actual church building here!  The church consists of 2 building, one that has the chapel, the cultural hall and offices. The other building has classrooms.

Inside the church was full so we sat outside in the overflow area.  They had tents set up with a TV up front broadcasting the conference.  It was actually quite pleasant out there, with a breeze blowing and the air wasn't smoky!

Blaise sat with us and translated the speakers.  The talks were beautiful and Cory and I both felt the spirit.

Thierry Mutombo was the General Authority presiding over the conference.  He is only 3 years older than Cory and I!  He gave a great talk on temples and the importance of keeping our covenants we make in the temple.  It made me so happy to know we are here helping build a temple for them to attend.  Right now, the closest temple to them is 1500 miles away in Kinshasa.
