Meanwhile...back at home!

When we bought our house last year, there were fruit trees in the backyard and Cory, the one who doesn't eat fruit, was so exited!  I was not, because I do not have a green thumb, but I LOVE fruit! There was an apple tree (it did not survive the winter), a peach tree, and another tree that didn't produce fruit, so I didn't know what it was.

Last September I spent a good amount of time harvesting my fruit.  The apple tree wasn't too healthy and I was only able to get enough fruit off the tree to make 2 freezer apple pie fillings.  The peach tree was very fruitful and I made peach jam, cubed up and froze peaches for smoothies and 3 bags of freezer peach pie/cobbler filling.

This year, Kaylee and Aaron sent pictures of the tree that didn't produce last year and it is FULL of plums.  The picture on the left is the plum tree...one of the branches is on the ground because it was so heavy.  Kaylee has been taking bowls full of plums to her friends at school and they are devouring them.  The tree on the right is my peach tree... if you get peaches from that, I (or Kaylee) must really love you because they are our favorite!

This year we are also getting quite a few grapes.  Cory put up a trellis before we left and they have taken off!

I just need to say, I love my neighbors!  When we moved in, I was nervous because I haven't lived in a neighborhood for 30 years.  I couldn't remember what it was like to have someone's house right there!  But, my neighbors have been wonderful and they share their kids with us (really the girls love the dogs and the dogs love them)!  They came over and helped pick the fruit and took some home for their families!  They do not have peaches here, at all, so I'm really jealous right now!
