Again, for those few of you that are actually following along on this journey, I am using this as my journal then I can print if off and have all the memories so skip over things as you wish!
This Sunday, we got to church a little early so I was able to grab a few pictures on our way in.
This is the baptismal font. When they have a baptism, they open the lid, haul in water and then they can baptize!
This is the Young Women's room.
Justin, who is the one who travels around Lubumbashi when a General Authority visits to translate, is in our ward and he gave Cory and I a hymn book in French. I love listening to the members here sing. There are probably around 60-80 a week at church but they by far out-sing any ward we have ever been in back home.
Justin was also teaching Gospel Doctrine and he asked Cory to say the opening prayer. It was the only thing I understood at church today!
During the lesson, I don't understand what is being said but I read along and study myself and I really liked this!!
We set up my desk upstairs so I was able to look out the window into the front yard instead of at the wall. I had some free time so I started doing my art book my dear friend, Christi, gave me and I'm excited to tap into my inner artist - hopefully with a little help from Ashley Boo!
It is becoming a tradition for me, Sunday evening, to bake bread. I am so glad there are all the ingredients here to make it because I LOVE bread, especially this recipe. (Thanks Yolanda). I usually make 2 batches, which makes 2 big loaves and 4 small loaves and then I bring them to the office to share...everyone is excited to be the recipient of it. I had already made the two big loaves and was letting the next batch rise when I cut myself. I was wiping off the counter and my finger brushed up against the serrated knife and sliced my finger. Being on blood thinners means I was bleeding quite a bit (nothing got on the bread) so I had Cory step in to finish the job and he did awesome!
Becoming a pro at 4 stranded braiding!
